Standard terms used across Contact Ground documentation.

Core Terms

  1. Contact Ground: the application.
  2. Organization: your tenant/team inside Contact Ground.
  3. Member: a user with membership in an organization.
  4. Role: permissions assigned to a member (owner, admin, operations, accounting, etc.).
  5. Resource: a schedulable asset (aircraft, simulator, other equipment).

Scheduling And Operations

  1. Flight Operations (Flight Ops): workflows for post-flight data, status tracking, and operational oversight.
  2. Event: a calendar entry (flight, training, maintenance, availability, etc.).
  3. Schedule Limit: max future bookings allowed per member (org setting).
  4. Availability Request: a request sent to instructors/evaluators for schedule availability.
  5. Dispatch Board: older shorthand for the Flight Operations page and its operations-oriented activity view.

Maintenance And Safety

  1. Squawk: a reported issue/discrepancy on a resource.
  2. Maintenance: workflow for tracking and resolving squawks and maintenance items.
  3. Checklist: pre/post-flight checklist assigned to resources.

Billing And Accounting

  1. Invoice: billing document generated for members.
  2. Credit: amount that reduces future invoice totals.
  3. Credit Request: member-submitted reimbursement request that can become a credit if approved.
  4. Invoicing Mode:
    • Manual Invoicing: billing and payment status handled in Contact Ground.
    • QuickBooks Integration: invoice/credit sync with QuickBooks Online.
  5. QuickBooks Realm ID: company identifier for the connected QuickBooks Online account.

Permissions And Qualification

  1. Endorsement: qualification used to control resource access or special capabilities.
  2. Blog Endorsement: endorsement that can allow members to post/edit News entries.
  3. Leadership Roles: owner/admin-level roles with broader operational control.

Messaging And Communication

  1. Organizational Messaging: sending announcements to selected groups (individuals, roles, endorsements, whole org).
  2. Target Mode: recipient selection mode in messaging.
  3. Reply Thread: responses to an organization message shown in message review views.

Terminology Standards

Use these preferred terms in docs:

  1. Prefer Flight Operations over Flight Ops in headings and first reference.
  2. Prefer Squawk for maintenance issue records.
  3. Prefer Resource unless the context is explicitly aircraft-only.
