How to Request Deletion of Your Data
Option 1 – Delete your account from within the app (recommended)
- Open the Contact Ground app and sign in.
- Tap your profile picture or initials in the top-right corner to open your profile.
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation screen, then tap Confirm Deletion.
- You will receive a confirmation email. Your account will be deactivated immediately and permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period. You may cancel the deletion during this window by signing back in and tapping Cancel Deletion.
Option 2 – Request deletion by email
If you are unable to access the app, send an email to support@contactground.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include:
- The email address associated with your account.
- Your full name (as registered in the app).
We will process your request within 30 days and send a confirmation when deletion is complete.
What Data Is Deleted
When your account is deleted the following personal data is permanently removed:
- Your name, email address, phone number, and profile image.
- Your authentication credentials (password hash, passkeys, linked Google / Apple accounts).
- Active sessions and access tokens.
- Personal preferences and notification settings.
- Currency and reminder records (including any health-related expiry dates you stored).
What Data Is Retained
Some data must be retained after account deletion because of legal, regulatory, or aviation-safety obligations. In these cases your personal identifiers are replaced with anonymised placeholders so the records can no longer be linked to you.
| Data Type | Retention Period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Flight bookings & calendar events | 7 years (anonymised) | Aviation compliance regulations |
| Flight operations reports | 7 years (anonymised) | Aviation compliance regulations |
| Resource updates (flight hours, squawks) | 7 years (anonymised) | Aviation compliance regulations |
| Maintenance logs | 7 years (anonymised) | Aviation safety records |
| Invoices & financial records | 7 years (anonymised) | Tax and accounting law |
| Audit logs | 7 years (anonymised after 90 days) | Security and compliance |
| Encrypted database backups | Up to 7 years (rotated automatically) | Disaster recovery; deleted through routine backup rotation |
For the full list of retention periods, see the Data Retention Policy.
Additional Retention Period
After your deletion request is submitted a 30-day grace period applies before permanent deletion occurs. During this period your account is deactivated but not yet removed, allowing you to cancel if the deletion was accidental. After 30 days, personal data in active systems is deleted or anonymised as described above. Anonymised records linked to aviation compliance or financial obligations are then retained for up to 7 years and deleted automatically when that period ends.
